Denver

I decided that it would be a great idea to drive out to Denver to spend time with my sister and I was right. It was a great idea. Mom drove with me to help me with Emma and to offer assistance so Annette and I could enjoy some quality time together. We truly enjoyed ourselves with pedicures, a run, picking out some free perfume samples, and the Lantern Fest. Luckily Annette found tickets for mom and I at the last minute so we could go see what all the fun was about. It turned out to be super windy and pretty chilly, but a lot of fun.

Here we are waiting for it to get dark enough. You may notice the "refugee" camp behind us. It totally looked post apocalyptic with people huddled around their little barrel fires.

A close up of the cute bunny hat Annette let us borrow. You can see how cold Emma was by looking at her little pink nose.

Here Annette is lighting my lantern since my hands were full with Emma.

The lanterns in the sky. It was a much more impressive and beautiful site than I had anticipated and it ended up being worth the wait in the end.

I'm so glad that we made the drive to Denver to see my sister and her family. I love spending time with her and savoring this time of life because it is passing y way too quickly.

Days of 47 Pageant Reunion

Two years ago Danielle, Nicole and I began an incredible journey together as the 2014 Days of 47 Royalty. It was one of the most miraculous years of my life and I will always look back on it with fondness. Last year we were part of the pageant as the outgoing royalty and we decided to make a reunion of this year to top it all off. Nicole is going on a mission to New Hampshire and Danielle is moving to Arizona to be a nurse so this is the last chance we have to see each other for the next few years. We sat together and reminisced the whole time. It was so much fun to watch it from the audience and we laughed a lot about the experiences we had. The nostalgia was thick and the tears had to be held back more than once. I am so grateful for those two amazing women and the influence they had in my life.

Happy Birthday to Me

Once upon a time I married an amazing man. This man tells me he loves me and that I'm beautiful. Not only does he say the words, he proves it through his actions. For my birthday this year he brought me breakfast in bed!! How lucky am I?

He also spent time and effort to make me this fantastic mug holder. It's perfect and he did a great job. He also bought me some nice sunglasses since my cheap pair has disappeared. I love my husband.

My birthday also happened to fall on Easter which made for a nice day. We went to church, sang my favorite Easter hymn "He Is Risen", went to my grandma's and had dinner, and then came home. It was a great 26th birthday.

Snuggly Bath Girl

Emma used to hate bath time, but now she doesn't mind it so much. Here is her happy smiling face before and after her bath. I just want to snuggle her all day long!

Doesn't Like Grass

It turns out that Emma's first exposure to grass wasn't a happy one for her. She was also a little hungry though, so that could have influenced the moment.

More Like Mom or More Like Dad?

People always ask us who Emma looks like and we always say that she looks like herself. But I thought it would be fun to post a few of our own baby pictures so you all can decide for yourselves.

What do you think? Does she look like one, the other, or either of us? Only time will tell.
