Newborn Photo Shoot

I waited a few weeks to get Emma's newborn pictures taken which means I didn't get the traditional wrinkly/ foldy baby pictures (not that Emma folds up very well anyway, she is not flexible at all). However, I'm very happy with how these ones turned out. The photographer did a great job getting some good shots especially because Emma was crying for most of the photo shoot. You never would have guessed it with some of these pictures.

An example of how unhappy this little girl was. Look at that little face :(

The First Bath

I've been giving the little peanut sponge baths since she was born, however today was the day we gave her a real bath. Her umbilical stub fell off so she can now get wet. She didn't mind it which bodes well for the future. Look how long she is!!

The Many Faces of Emma Girl

Emma has a very dynamic face- she is constantly making some sort of crazy face! Here are just a few. Her most famous are the scowl, the concerned face, the surprised face, and she's starting to bust out a few smiles. We love our little girl and her "gymnastic" features.

Girl Day Ski Day

We had a couple of passes to Cherry Peak for a few runs that were going to expire so Hannah, mom and I decided to make a girl's day out of it. It was fun to get back on the slopes after being pregnant.

Happy New Year Baby Girl!!

On December 31, 2015 I had an appointment with Dr. Craig. Jake went with me and we asked her to induce me- I was overdue and done being pregnant. I wanted that little girl to come meet the world! The induced me at 9:30 am and told us to wait. So we did. We waited and waited and waited and no baby. Mom and dad came to visit us and brought us some goodies to celebrate New Years Eve. We toasted the new year and then waited some more.

Finally I decided the pain was enough that I wanted an epidural and was visited by the anesthesiologist at about 1:30 am. I was able to fall asleep for awhile and poor Jake had to sleep on the long couch in the room. By 9:30 the next morning I had finally progressed enough to get this baby coming. I started pushing at 10:30 and Emma Adeleine Thurston was born at 10:57 am on January 1, 2016.

Daddy got to cut the umbilical cord while I held our little girl. She was then weighed in at 6 lbs 80 ounces, and 20 inches long.

This little girl is already working on getting daddy wrapped around her little finger.

She had so many visitors her first few days! Grandma and Grandpa Johnson, Grandma and Grandpa Thurston, Emily, Caitlin, Grandma-great Stratford, Mo Eccles, and Lisa and Curtis Marble. She is one loved little girl- and she's only a few days old.

.

We got to take her home at the end of the second day which felt surreal. We couldn't believe they would let us take this precious and helpless infant home. We love her already and are so excited to be her mommy and daddy!
