San Diego, California... Spanish Speaking of Course

Yes everyone, I have officially received my call. And I will get the incredible chance to serve part of my mission in this building. I can't believe it!!!! I'm so excited and in shock. Let me back track a little to tell about my day and the events which led up to this moment. First of all, I had to work today and I didn't get off the mountain until nearly 4. This was fine because I was expecting the mailman to have already delivered my letter. Wrong. I waited for her until nearly 4:30, bouncing up and down on the balls of my feet in great anticipation. I looked left, I looked right... no mail truck. By this time I was about ready to jump out of my skin because she was late. Then I saw it. That little square, white vehicle. She was coming down the street. One house down, five to go. Slowly she came closer. As she pulled up to our house she saw me standing anxiously on my drive way, ready to jump into her car and search through every bin to find my letter if I had to. She came to a stop in front of me. I looked through her window and saw it. My white envelope. Through much excitement and a brief lapse of sanity I shrieked, "That's mine!!!" causing the poor lady to jump. Gratefully she gave me a knowing smile and handed me the mail. I barely had the papers in my hand before I sprinted up my front walk into my house and proceeded to run around, skipping, hopping, crying, laughing and doing an insane white envelope dance. Mom just laughed, Ryan I'm sure was a little bit afraid. As I called people to tell them of my great fortune, I clung to that envelope like a baby blanket. I had to wait two and a half grueling hours before I could open my call so of course, I went to run some errands, taking my call with me and sneaking glances at it while I drove. Like any sane girl does on the day she gets her mission call I got a manicure and bought pizza for the night.

Then I came home. And people arrived. My closest friends and my family. Everyone took turns guessing where I was going, based of course on the solid scientific practice of feeling how heavy my envelope was. Then came the moment of truth. 7:00. I pulled out the letter opener. I began to slide it under the flap. My heart was pounding, my stomach turning and every ounce of butterfly nerves my body possesses was released. I pulled my letter out and... I was called to serve in the San Diego, California mission. Also called to the Mormon Battalion Historic Site. I will be conducting tours and teaching the gospel in the Spanish language. It was the most incredible, euphoric rush. I read my letter out of order confusing everyone as I left out key details, like the fact that I'll be working in a Historical Site, Spanish speaking. Eventually I got all the paragraphs sorted in their correct order.

So this is it people. I'm serving in California. I leave June 8, 2011. And I couldn't be more excited.
