Hello New Year

First of all, Christmas was awesome. December was just as good. Alan and Hannah got married and I am thrilled. Hannah is probably my best friend up here in good ole' Logan. Christmas was good because it was so meaningful, to me at least. This last year, I decided to make my siblings gifts and give them something from the heart. I gave them 'memory books' which consisted of a compilation of photos and written memories. I loved doing this because it made me realize how much I love each of my siblings and how different I would be without each of their influences in my life. I felt that Christmas was more about family this year, and while I love all the gifts I received, I'm more grateful that I could spend time with my family, including Annette.

New Years Eve was also really good. I was able to spend the weekend with my girls in PG. We partied, went dancing and enjoyed each other's company. The best part however, was the following week when Chann, Jess, Alyssa, Cam, Verdon, Klark and even Jordan were able to come to my cabin for some fun and games.

We sled, ate, chilled, watched movies and most importantly hung out.

The following week was Chann's birthday so Jessica and I planned a murder mystery dinner. It was 70's themed and I was Lyza M. aka, Liza Minelli. Jordan, Klark, Allen, Jess, Heather and Taylor were able to join us and we had a really good time. Jess and I were able to pull off a chill clubbing atmosphere while failing miserably to get a good fondue available for our guests. We blew several plugs with all our electricity. It did make for a memorable evening though.

Classes started in January and I have mixed feelings in regards to them. I'm only taking 10 credits, which is nothing compared to Snow. And one of the credits is a skiing class so I'm basically taking nine. First of all, Landscape Architecture is not what I anticipated. It's basic and kind of generic, which makes sense since it's only a 1330 level. My teacher is nice and I've made a couple friends in the class, which helps. I really like my Management class because there are very important life lessons I can learn if nothing else. We have a huge project we're required to do and if we raise 1,000 dollars for the SEED program, we can get out of taking the final. Which is awesome, because this is the only class I actually have a final in anyway. Buddhism is really interesting. I like it, but sometimes the other students push my buttons with their liberal-shallow views. People of any political belief have tendencies to be hypocritical, even the "open-minded" liberals. And I'm not saying all liberals are like this, but they certainly aren't exempt. Anyway, I like the subject even though I have to write a 20 page paper as 75% of my final grade. At least I don't have quizzes or tests and I can write about almost anything I want. I love my institute class. It's Isaiah, and I've always been interested in learning more about his teachings. My teacher is the stereotypical church instructor, but it works for me so I'm content. My cousin Matthew Kennedy is in my class which leads to a lot of fun discussions.

The weeks have been flying by. Hannah and I decided to run a half marathon this May. I really need to get more committed because I've never been a runner and I'm having a hard time changing. However, I am still active through my skiing class. I've also decided I would love to be a ski instructor next season. It really helps that I have an "in" with my teacher, Deb.

The drama has definitely changed. Now I like Sam, but we all know that may change. The flood has slowed down to a trickle and will probably soon be a famine, but right now I'm ok with that. However, I did receive some very nice flowers from some very nice four boys for V-day, or SAD aka singles awareness day.

These are only three of the four bouquets, I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of the fourth. I realized something very important as I received each of these flowers. It doesn't matter how beautiful a gift is, if you don't love the person it's coming from it doesn't mean a whole lot. And I'm not talking about love as in marry them love, but even love as a good friend. The best part about Valentine's weekend was spending it with my girls. They came to visit and we partied it up. The highlight was and always will be laughing until your stomach hurts so much you don't need to work on your abs for at least a week. I love my girls and I miss them already.
Now we're onto a new week with the mundane routine of work, sleep, class and church duties. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I love excitement, but I'm ok with taking a break right now. I'm currently working on learning to love myself, serve others and strengthening my spiritual understandings. Isn't it funny how life goes on no matter how often or drastically it changes? I'm going to steal a line from Aunt Barbara, but with life moving on as it always will, the only thing we can do is to learn to "enjoy the ride".
