French Creek Camping

We went camping this weekend at French Creek. It was fun, even though I was with married couples and their children the whole time. Lol. We sat around the fire eating s'mores, the kids caught multiple frogs,

there were badminton matches, hiking was included and of course the delicious wild raspberry eating. They were so so tasty.

It did rain on us a little bit, but that's ok because it wasn't bad and it cleared up before too long.

We even got to play some Ultimate Frisbee on our way out. I broke my frisbee in half, which was tragic. It was still a super fun game though. The course was unlike I'd ever seen, being a maze through a forest with trees adding a new level of difficulty I've never before experienced. It certainly made for an interesting time. Annette and Jeremy are more hardcore than me, so they had to give me a handicap to make it more even. I think that Ultimate Frisbee is something I'll definitely have to get more involved with down the road.

Sundays

My goal for my time in Philly is to have at least something to post on Sundays. So the update is: I'm now attending the singles ward, and it's going to be so much fun. I'm really excited to spend time with the new friends I made today. And I have a job. Yay!! I'm going to be a hostess at Ruby Tuesday, and I start this Tuesday. It will be a fun place to work and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully, I'll also get a second job at the YMCA with Annette teaching swim lessons. I have an interview on Tuesday also, so we'll see how that goes. If I get that particular job, then I'll be able to go work out for free whenever I want, which would rock! Anyway, that's pretty much how this week has been.

Beach Bums

Today for the play group activity we went to the beach in Ocean City, NJ. It was so much fun. the weather was perfect; with no clouds, minimal wind and sunny skies. The sand was super soft and realitivley clean and the water was blue and cool. It was nice to finally get a chance of laying out on a towel with a good book to read. Cambrie spent the entire day digging holes and filling them with water.



All the kids ran around and had a blast. Annette and I even got our chance to boogey board. She taught me how... sorry, I didn't know before. Please forgive me. Needless to say, it was a splendid day at the beach.

Week One in Philly

I've only been here one week, and it has been super busy. We went to the zoo, we gathered job applications, we went to Chucky Cheeses, Annette left Cambrie to Jeremy and I for 2 days, we had a birthday party for Cambrie and I've learned a little bit about playing mom. Gads, I'm exhausted. My body is still on Utah time, so waking up at 8/8:30 here is like waking up at 6 for me. I'm looking forward to my body adjusting to Philly time. It's been really good though. I am loving spending time with my neice, and things are going well with Annette and Jerry-Balloo. I even got to try out being a nursery leader today. Oh boy, I am in no hurry to get married, have kids, or even officially join a family ward for a long time.

Jeremy made Cambrie special birthday pancakes Friday morning.



Tonight at Cambrie's party we had super yummy cake that Jeremy made, pretty much all by himself, we opened presents and all the little girls ran around as the parents talked. The cake was done in a story book fashion and it looked great. It was three layered with vanilla, chocolate and cherry, and cream cheese frosting. Yum yum. Cambrie received so many clothes and tons of toys for her birthday that I don't know if she'll ever find time to use them all. But it was really fun to see her reactions anyway. She still doesn't understand that she's 2, so we're working on that right now, but she's intelligent and will pick it up quick.

So yeah, that's pretty much it for now. I'll just have to wait and see what crazy new adventures the Rogers have planned for me tomorrow.

Operation Y, 2009

Jessica

This year for the 4th, my friends Jessica and Kylie decided it would be fun to hike the Y and watch all the fireworks from above. When we got there we discovered that a bunch of BYU students planned to make the Y look like a flag with people in shirts and colored blankets. So we hiked, we sweated, I personally did not live and happened to die. If you go up the trail about 50 feet you'll find my body. It was actually pretty fun. We stayed to watch the stadium of fire then we hiked down at about 11 pm. First of all let me just say the fireworks were really lame from a distance. We could see them all over the valley, but they just weren't as cool far away. Second, we met a couple guys who were super funny. Dustin and his brother Cody. On our way down we ran with Dustin in the lead. He was super fast and we joked that he was the mommy duck leaving us all behind and big brother Cody duck had to protect me from the cougar hiding in the bushes.
