Kalai (or Kay Lay as some may inaccurately say)

Picture this. It's 8 o'clock on a Saturday night, you're sitting on the floor of a dance studio with your two best, somewhat crazy, girl friends waiting for the infamous Kalai to grace you with his mere presence. This is what Jessica, Chantelle and I did yesterday. The opening singers were really good. First was a girl named Jackie Campbell. I loved her style and she was really funny when she interacted with the audience. Next was Emy ... something. She was pretty good too except that her songs were a tad depressing. She looked like a nice girl though. After her it was the most meltalicious boy ever, who is unfortunately married. His name is Benton Paul. Oh man, my heart liquefied as soon as I heard him begin to sing. My jaw dropped as I stared in awe at him while he performed and played on the stage. Oh buddy he was good. At around 10 Kalai finally made his appearance. At first I thought he was a nut. His beard was shaggy, his hair long, and his socks didn't match. Chantelle had been to one of his concerts before and declared that he had been high the entire time, which is ironic because Kalai started talking about how he had never been high before in his life. It turned out that he is actually LDS, maybe not the cookie cutter mormon commonly found in Utah, but he is none the less and he went to college in Ephraim. Which means he is a Badger alumni. I was pretty excited when I found that out. The really cool thing about Kalai is his musical style. If I had to describe it, I would say it is hindu, southern black, island, emo, chill, and other things I can't quite figure out. It's unique beyond anything I've ever heard before. Even though the concert ended pretty late it was so much fun. I think I like going to concerts.

Roommate Christmas Presents

I had Danielle, Danielle had Lauren, Lauren had Megan, Megan had Emily, Emily had Keisha and Keisha had me. What a joyful circle of friendship and presents. Everyone got such cute gifts, we're all very classy girls. I recieved a very nice tile with the Manti temple printed on it and 3 blocks with JOY on them. Thanks Keish! And Merry Christmas to all my roommates!

Tragic Bowl Game

Of all the ways to end the football season. The game was slow at the beginning. Butler was up by 2 touch downs with the Badgers stuck at a wopping 9 points. The last quarter of the game was much more exciting. We got 2 touch downs and almost had a third when the ref. decided it wasn't good. We finished the time tied with Butler and it was over time, sudden death. We had the first offensive position and easily got a touch down only to have it met by a Grizzly goal. Double overtime, their ball. We had them pinned and at the end of the fourth down they fumbled it, recovering it in the endzone of all places. Lame? Yes. The ball was given back to us however, mere seconds later it was intercepted by Butler, giving them the points they needed. They won, 37 - 30. This is the second year we've lost the national champs title. So close and yet so far. It's ok though, next year we will hopefully make a come back. Go Badgers!

Midnight Denny's Run

It is common knowledge on Snow College campus that during finals a midnight Denny's run is in order. The point is not to order real food (unless you are hungry), the goal of the night is to get out and relieve stress. Everyone is tired and brain fried so it's a nice way to laugh with friends and relax. It has even been clinically proven that a Denny's run helps poor college students do better on their finals. Of course, the clinical that proved it is the mental institution in Pinetree 2 apt. 4. It was really fun to go play with my roommates last night. This is probably the last big hurrah we'll have with Lauren before she moves out next week. Sad day. At least we have record that she joined us for our fall semester Denny's excursion.

Thanksgiving Break

Turkey day was simply splendid. The company in Ogden and the food provided was delicious. Black Friday shopping wasn't as bad as people said it would be (I wasn't like the emotionally invested maniac you see in all the stores so I had nothing to lose). And Logan was nice because I got to see family and go to a couple USU games. I think my favorite part of the whole weekend would have to be the games however. USU played New Mexico for football and won 47-2. Yeah, they got a safety, but how embarrassing is that? Their defense scored more than their offense. Then there was the basketball game against Cal Poly. Again, we won (of course) 97-57. Alan figured out a mathematical equation which proves why we couldn't ever double their score. Y=2x-13. There was an average of 13 points that we couldn't get over to double their score. But that's ok, because we learned the Scotsman fight song. "Show me a Scotsman, who doesn't love the thistle. Show me and Englishman who doesn't love the rose. Show me a true blooded Aggie from Utah, who doesn't love the spot . . . where the sagebrush grows!" It's a good song. Alan and I had a lot of fun singing it loud and proud every time they played it. I'm so excited to officially go to USU and be an Aggie. It's going to be amazing!
