Movember

I look pretty good with a "mo". It kind of reminds me of Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride.

Movember originated in New Zealand and was transported here by the boys downstairs. The purpose of this grand event is to raise prostate cancer awareness. It's been so cool to see all the guys on campus growing "mo's". People who don't even know the original boys are growing mustaches. The whole thing has spread like wild-fire, which really isn't that hard to do on a campus as small as Snow College. A couple nights ago we had "Movember Fest" which was essentially a huge Rockband party with mo's everywhere. Even the girls joined in the facial hair fun. What a great idea Jason and Sean.

On the top left is Jessica, Alissa, Ashley, Megan, some girl I don't know, Kayla and on the bottom is me, Stephanie and Angie.

I'm engaged! Wait, I'm what?

Ok, I'm not really engaged. It's all a joke to play on my trek ma and pa from over the summer. The story is that my friend Verdon and I hung out alot on trek, and Verdon is good friends with my ma and pa so we pretended to be engaged for a day just to see what they would do. After trek was over Verdon and I decided to go along with it and make a fake wedding announcement to psych my ma and pa out. He even gave me a fake ring to go along with our scheme. Here are some of the pictures we took to put on our announcement.

This is Verdon and me. It was funny to do this kind of thing for fake, it'll be interesting to see what it's like to do it for real.

Climbing in Moab

This is Ancient Art. The yellow circle is where we climbed too.
(The circle is on the really crazy looking peak to the right).
In this picture it is easy to see how high up we were.

And this is the view on top. It was so beautiful and
I wouldn't have minded spending awhile up top.

So this weekend I went climbing with my mom, sister and brother down in Moab at Fisher Towers. Needless to say, it was amazing! The first climb we did is called "Ancient Art" for a very good reason. It's old, and it's artistic. Not only that, but it is definitely one of the craziest, scariest, funnest climbs I've ever done in my entire climbing life. At first you have to work your way up this really weird chimney then when you get to the top you change ropes (it was a multi- pitch climb), scurry up a crack and saunter across a cat-walk which is nearly 2 feet wide with 600 foot drops on either side. If that wasn't nerve wracking enough you then have to leap up onto a rock in beached whale form and scramble up the rest of the rock, all the while not looking down, thinking down or feeling down. Once you get to the top you have to climb above the bolts so if you fall you will swing around like a mad paper airplane. The view on top was one of the most breath taking sights I've seen. It was worth the fear and extra dose of adrenaline to get up there. I would love love love to climb it again and again.

After we climbed we then had to hike back in the dark and of course we got a little bit lost. But it was so fun. I love that hike and wouldn't mind doing it again some day. The next day we climbed Cobra and Lizard and Annette, Alan and my mom went on to climb The Pinacle and Sundial. It was a really fun climbing trip and I have noticed my climbing abilities have severely improved over the past couple years since I started. I love the time I got to spend with my family this past week and have learned alot about myself, my friends, my family and my relationships. It's kind of funny how your testimony can grow when you spend time in nature, observing and appreciating Heavenly Father's beautiful creations.

This is the Cobra. Named accordingly.

Ta da! It's me on top of the Lizard.

Welcome Home Alan!

This is the airport before Alan arrived. Several missionaries came home the same day and it was fun to see all the families with their posters and balloons.

This is Alan (the one on top) and a couple other missionaries he served with.

And this is my family, all together again -minus Jeremy.

He's finally home! The day I have been counting down too for, oh, about 2 years has finally come to pass! He's home he's home he's home!!! My brother Alan flew in from Anaheim, CA at approximately 1 pm. It was so good to see him. I love him so much and missed him desperately while he was gone. Everyone down at Snow knows of him now because every time there was a pause in the conversation, or a reference to missionaries I would blurt out without thinking how rude it is to interrupt, "My brother gets home from his mission in (insert number here) days!" I drove Jordan insane with my excitement, although he would never admit it, and I had been told a couple of times by my friend Mark that I would kill Alan with my excitement. Well Mark, Alan's alive so my enthusiasm wasn't too overwhelming. For him at least. Ryan on the other hand... he may have a bruised arm, but he'll get over it. After picking up Alan we all went to 'The Old Spaghetti Factory' at Trolley Square in Salt Lake. It was really good. I'm so glad he's home and that my family is all together again. I missed this feeling of contentment and now that I have it back I don't want to leave it. It's a good thing Christmas Break is just around the corner. The only down side is that I still need to figure out what to get everyone for Christmas.

Merry Halloween

Dang, we're such cute reindeer.

Jessica and Chantelle decided that we would be something unique for Halloween this year. Reindeer. Very untraditional, but totally fun. The makeup was stage makeup so we essentially caked it on, as in it took me a couple days to get all of it off. It was still fun. Our goal was to kiss Jordan on the cheek so he'd have a nice bright red lipstick print to flaunt. Chann tried, but it didn't stick very well. I eventually got him however (and of course he let me because he could have stopped me if he had wanted to) and oh man was it super cute. Lol. After visiting a couple friends, getting slurpies at 7-eleven and meeting the "relief society" (a bunch of boys in dresses and makeup) we decided to do a little college version of trick-or-treating. Basically we went around to the best lit dorms and knocked on every door with a light on inside. The goal was to get whatever random items we could. We ended with a basketball, someone's pants, an old shirt, a planner, a crutch, some nuts, bacon bits, olives, a 2 liter bottle of Squirt, a bunch of candy, a nasty pumpkin, a love note and a bunch of laughs. Some people were really good sports and had fun helping us out while other people were pretty much really lame about it. Only in college can you get away with doing stupid things like this and still feel good about yourself. I have to admit, we made very attractive reindeer. Jessica was Donner, the geeky one, I was Vixen, the posh one and Chann was Rudolph, she never had her red nose for the pictures though. I don't think I've had this much fun on Halloween in a very long time.
This is Jordan wearing Chann's Rudolph nose.
He makes a better reindeer than the rest of us.
After Jordan stopped making funny faces at Jessica,
we were able to get a posed picture of all three of us.
True to her nerdy glasses, this is Jessica Dee Major.
One of my best friends since we were 5 years old.
This is Chantelle and Jessica mostly finished.

This is me putting on the nasty stage makeup. It was so thick and so gross! I looked sickly and blotchy after putting it on.

And this is the Relief Society, don't worry, they posed for the picture. It wasn't candid or stalker-ish in any way. They were actually really funny guys to talk to. The 2 on the right were the cutest.
