Mango "sticky" rice

So last night when I went to the social cesspool of Ephraim, aka Walmart, I decided I would be adventuresome and try to make a new treat. Mango sticky rice. I got the mango, I got some strawberries and I got sweetened condensed milk. Man was I ready for this fail proof experience. As I began looking at recipes online I noticed a few minor glitches in my plan. First of all I needed coconut milk instead of sweetened condensed and secondly I needed sticky rice and all I had was white. Oh well, I thought to myself. I'll improvise. Needless to say I had no idea what I was doing. I used more dishes than was efficient, I over cooked my incorrect milk product, my mango wasn't ripe and I cut myself while wrestling with the mango. Even with all of my inexperience the dish actually turned out pretty decent. Maybe I'll try it again someday and next time, I'll have experience behind me, guiding me to make the perfect mango sticky rice concoction. Yay for new experiences!

This is the finished product

Babysitting

Last weekend I took on a 3 day babysitting job for this family that used to live in Pleasant Grove. There are 5 kids in the family ages 14, 12, 8, 6, and 4. Holy cow. It was probably one of the craziest weekends ever. Between soccer practice, birthday parties, school, chores, school events and bedtime I don't think I had more than 5 minutes to myself for breathing. Once the kids were up the day was in full swing. I don't think I've ever been more compelled to crash at 10:00 pm. It was a fun weekend even though I was wasted afterwords. I did learn one lesson though. I am in no way ready to be a mom. I like my me time, I like not having to be responsible for anyone but myself. It's nice to run off and be spontaneous. Someday I'll be a great mom, but for now, I'm lucky enough to be in college. The most selfish time of anyone's life.

In this picture is Emma (12), Sam (6), and Jackson or Jacks (4).
Just for the sake of a funny story (Annette, I know you'll appreciate this) here's one for you. Saturday after I got home from babysitting I went on a date. Not with any regular college student mind you, but with a 26 year old from Fairview, Utah. We went to Ruby River for dinner and then Trafalga for the date package. It was alot of fun even if it was kind of awkward. No, I didn't know his age when I went out with him, but that's ok. Because I'll still be his friend. He's certainly a hick, but ya know, I'm actually becoming quite fond of hicks. I'm in fact almost dating one name Jess Housekeeper from Ferron, Utah. Which is about an hour away from Price for all of you who don't know. Don't worry, I'll keep you updated there.

Oreo Attack

Oh the things college students do in small college towns on lonely nights. My friend Cameron Hein and I were bored one evening and decided to attack Nate's jeep with one or two oreos. Ok, more like 3 packages. We went to Wal-mart to get the oreos and low and behold neither of us had our wallets. After getting our money, avoiding Nate (we knew he'd want to hang with us if he saw us) and getting back to wally world we got the cookies and goobed his car. Poor Nate, with his wounded back, he never saw it coming. It's a good thing we decided against the suran wrap.

Longboarding Weekend

Sorry, I haven't had much of a chance to post lately so I'll give it to you all now. A couple weekends ago I went to Ogden to spend some time with my cousin. He works for a long boarding company so he was able to get me one for free. It was alot of fun riding around, pretending that I knew what I was doing. After we rode for awhile we decided to go climbing at the local gym. I did a route in 15 seconds. It was pretty fun.

Revenge is Sweet

The war of the couches has begun. It all started when the boys downstairs decided to steal our cushy cute couches and replace them with their stiff, ugly boy plaid blue ones. Of course this act instituted war between our apartment and theirs. Now we have all 4 couches lining the walls to our living room, their red bean bag, a coffee table substitute made from a kitchen table bench and their rugby ball hiding in our kitchen drawer. While their apartment is bare except for a "revenge is sweet" sign, our apartment has a plethera of furniture, poised, waiting to see what the boys downstairs do next. Indeed this war will be one of strategy and interest.

Weekend with the Sweetens

Over Labor Day weekend I was invited by my friend Braden Sweeten to spend the time with his family at their cabin. It was so much fun! We played intense games of Settlers of Zarahemla, watched a crazy movie nobody this side of the Mississippi has heard of called 'Rustler's Rhapsody' and got soaked on a 4 wheeler ride.
Story time: Ok, so this morning we decided it would be super fun to go out (in the rain) on a 4 wheeler ride. It was all good, even though it was wet. Until it started hailing on us. That's right, hail. On Labor Day. As in September 1st. Eventually the hail turned into snow and we were able to make it back to the cabin safely, if somewhat of a human popsicle.
After we thawed out Braden's uncle, Dave, taught us how to yodel. That was such a funny experience. Oh man, you should have seen us. We were terrible, but it was still a blast.
